Gaborone, Botswana 18 July 2025: Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC) has officially handed over donations to selected beneficiaries as part of its impactful “Do Something for Someone” staff campaign. This employee-driven initiative, launched in 2024, underscores BTC’s unwavering commitment to sustainable social investment and community upliftment across Botswana. The campaign highlights the power of employee engagement in driving meaningful change, as BTC staff members took the lead in identifying needs and mobilizing resources.
The handover ceremonies were led by BTC store supervisors, who played a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering the donations. Tlhabanelo Masike, store supervisor for the Ghanzi branch, oversaw the donations of clothing for men and women in Grootlagte and Qabo villages. Nonofo Mosesane, the store supervisor for Selibe – Phikwe led the donation handover to Re a Kgona Rehabilitation Centre who received essential food items and toiletries to aid in the care of its residents, while Keletso Norwebb, the store supervisor for Lobatse coordinated the handover of 35 pairs of school shoes and clothing items to Gopong Primary School.
Speaking at the handover of the donation at Re a Kgona Rehabilitation Centre in Selibe – Phikwe, the BTC Store Supervisor in the area, Nonofo Mosesane explained that the essential food items and toiletries were collected from BTC staff members who heeded the call to donate to a great cause. Through the campaign, staff members were encouraged to donate anything from school uniforms, food items, toiletries, and clothing to be given to members of the community who need them the most. “Through the spirit of botho, we are reminded that when we come together, no challenge is too big to overcome”, he stated.
The ‘Do Something for Someone’ campaign is not only focused on immediate community needs but also on laying the foundation for long-term impact. The goal of the campaign is to empower individuals and communities so they can thrive independently and with dignity. The campaign, which is coordinated through the BTC Foundation, identified several deserving recipients from various regions of the country, selected based on their needs and the potential for meaningful impact. Together, these efforts illustrate how BTC’s “Do Something for Someone” staff campaign continues to transform lives, strengthen communities, and set the standard for employee-led corporate social initiatives in Botswana.
