BTC hosted over 4000 runners, who competed across distances such as: 3km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 42.2km and wheelchair athletes. The success of the 3rd BTC Francistown Marathon 2024 reaffirms its status as a cornerstone of community unity, athletic prowess and social progress. From the proceeds of 3rd BTC Francistown Marathon, BTC Foundation donated a total amount of BWP379,802.88 for CSI initiatives. BTC`s contribution towards the global goals impact was realised with investment towards the education sector in Tonota District and Tutume District ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all while in North-East District healthy lives and promotion of well-being for all ages was achieved in the investment at Tsamaya Clinic. BTC have committed to donating P500,000, bringing the total donation to over P1 million for the three years since the return of the BTC Francistown Marathon.
Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) collaborated with Gaborone Striders Runners Club (GSRC) as the merchandise sponsor valued at P32,000 for their 98th Comrades Marathon participation which was held in Durban in Kwa Zulu Natal. This also availed the opportunity to reveal (2) BTC staff members, Tshepho Maretela and Tebogo Mapugwi who had also qualified for the 98th Comrades Marathon. The two each received P18,775.50 to cover their accommodation, travel, registration and running outfits for the marathon.
