BTC DONATED TO BOTSWANA ASSOCIATION OF THE BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED

BTC Foundation on donated a JAWS software valued at P79,000 to the Botswana Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted. Jaws software is a powerful screen reader that aids individuals with visual impairments by enabling them to access a variety of digital content and have equal access to information. In addition, a total of five (5) laptops worth P31,574.30 were donated to the centre and will empower the recipients to work, study and connect with the world around them, ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. These laptops, combined with JAWS software, will provide the tools necessary for their independence and skill development.

“Before the donation, BABPS staff especially those with visual impairments struggled with limited access to functional computers and assistive software, which affected productivity and independence. Visually impaired staff often had to rely on the help of other employees to complete basic tasks like typing, which slowed down work and affected their confidence.

The BTC Foundation’s donation has greatly improved our work environment. The new laptops and JAWS software have enabled visually impaired staff to perform tasks more efficiently and independently, reducing reliance on others and boosting self-reliance. Additionally, the laptops are now used to provide computer training to our members, helping them gain digital skills that support education, employment, and independence. This donation has strengthened our operations and expanded our impact in the community.”  Bonolo Magola (née Botlhokobotsile), Botswana Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (BABPS)
